VPS Usage rules for bytehouse
1. A VPS is as the term suggests a virtual artificial partition created on a large hardware node, and as such no physical accessories such as video or sound cards, speakers, monitors can be attached to it.
2. Although a VPS hosting platform is cheaper than a dedicated hosting server, it is not a always a suitable replacement for a dedicated server, but could be for a large number of them. It is not recommended for heavy resource intensive applications, nor those that require heavy or constant access to the I/O port or hard disk.
3. Guaranteed RAM is the minimal amount of memory that is allocated for your VPS hosting container. It is the dedicated or ‘reserved’ memory for your VPS hosting container and will be available at all times
4. Burstable RAM is the limit up to which you can use extra RAM as short spikes in your memory usage. This memory cannot be used as a replacement for the guaranteed memory and should not be used over prolonged periods of time, and is limited by or dependent on the availability of free memory on the node that your virtual server resides on.
5. CPU Weighting or CPU Share is the share allocated as a percentage of the total CPU resource as specified according to your hosting plan. A weighting of 2000 would normally be expected to have twice the CPU allocation of a weighting of 1000.
6. Our support team cannot be responsible for damages or issues arising from the client upgrading their kernel, OS, running windows updates and external software like firewalls and anti-virus.
7. Backups are the responsibility of the customer, and it is a task that should be undertaken on a regular basis. The VPS support team take a daily backup of the entire node with 7 iterations but the integrity of the backup can not be verified until restoration. This is primarially used in case something goes wrong at our end. We are and can individually restore a VPS from this backup, but this is deemed to be chargeable work.
8 Users may send a maximum of 500 emails per hour. If there are mailing lists which are bigger than 500, the user should divide them into 500 email increments.
9 VPS Hosted containers found to be consistently using the burstable RAM available or exceeding the resource limits may be suspended. The support team will send an email to the concerned user suggesting that they modifiy their usage or upgrade their hosting package.
