Difference between VPS and VDS?
Ah the age old question; What’s in a name?
The primary difference between a virtual dedicated server and a virtual private server is its name! It is believed that virtual dedicated servers or VDS was used before virtual private servers or VPS was coined, but that through usage, VDS lost popularity to VPS.
Virtual Dedicated Server’s name is believed to be derived from the fact that virtualization or the practice of partitioning a single server in multiple ‘virtual’ or apparent servers was initially a commonly used in Main and Midi frame computing. The resurgence in virtualisation is due to the development of virtualization software.
